There are a great deal of photos here. If you’re in a hurry, Abu Simbel and the Egyptian Museum in Cairo are my favourites. I really hope to return some day with a better camera.

Our journey started on the morning of 3rd February 2001 to London Heathrow, Terminal 3 to take the 4 hours 50 mins Egyptair at 14:00 to Cairo arriving at 20:50 local time. A very good flight - I might add. Plush, with plenty of leg room and a brand new aircraft by the look of it. We were met in Cairo by a rep. from Eastmar Holidays acting on behalf of Kouni, who assured me that we would not have any hassle from locals trying to make a quick buck from the tourists due to the fact that we both looked as Egyptian as anyone could! "On my life, you will not have any problems", he said, as he raised his arms, palms held out towards me. Looking forward to checking in at our hotel we left Cairo airport with our luggage wheeled behind us. An Egyptian woman who had been arguing with an official in the lounge stormed out through the automatic doors and in doing so caught her foot on the base of Sally's suitcase and flew hands-first, face-down onto the tarmac. After a short spell of amateur dramatics (and a few worried looks between Sally and myself) she realised that her act was getting her nowhere, so she picked herself up and carried on as if nothing had happened.
